Let us start with the main point: these devices share far more than they differ. All of them work fractionally: microneedles pass through the epidermis and deliver radiofrequency into the dermis. The tissue heats up, remodelling starts and damaged fibres are replaced by new collagen.
The indications overlap almost completely: skin density, facial contour, pores, acne marks, fine lines, stretch marks and scars on the body. So the question is rarely about the brand; it is about how the device delivers its energy.
A needle is either insulated along its full length or it is not, and that decides where the energy is released.
In Dubai this is not theory: most patients here have phototype three to five and a tan for most of the year.
The second parameter is depth. Most platforms work down to 3 to 4 mm on the face, and body handpieces go deeper. More millimetres does not mean better: on the face, neck and eye area precision matters more than the maximum.
The third parameter is how the energy is applied. Pulsed delivery heats quickly; micro-pulsed delivery uses a series of short controlled pulses that warm the dermis evenly to a therapeutic 41 to 43 degrees. That evenness is what makes the result predictable and decides how many days the redness lasts.
| What to look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Needle insulation | safety on darker skin, pigmentation risk |
| Depth and its control | work on the face, neck and delicate areas |
| Type of energy delivery | even heating and predictability |
| Comfort and recovery | how many days the redness lasts |
| The doctor and the protocol | decides the result more than the model does |
Here is what is rarely said out loud: the result of RF microneedling is defined by the protocol and the doctor's hands, not by the logo on the housing. Depth, energy and pass density chosen for your skin decide the outcome.
We chose Virtue RF deliberately: our core work is the face, neck and delicate areas, our patients have every skin phototype, and most of them need to be back at work tomorrow. The Smart RF handpiece carries 36 insulated gold-plated needles, the depth is set down to 3.5 mm and the energy is delivered in micro-pulses. That gives a predictable result without surprises. A detailed look at the technology is in our article on RF microneedling.
RF microneedling at SOLAR is performed on Virtue RF. A course is three to four treatments with an interval of four to six weeks; the plan and the cost are set by the doctor at the free consultation.
More about the treatmentHow do I choose a clinic by the device?
It is better to choose by the doctor and the protocol. The device sets the safety limits; the result comes from settings matched to your skin and from experience.
What is safer for darker skin?
Platforms with fully insulated needles: no energy is released in the epidermis where melanin sits, so the risk of pigmentation is minimal.
Is deeper always better?
No. On the face and neck, precision and depth control matter more; the maximum settings are mostly for dense areas of the body.
How many treatments are needed?
A standard course is three to four treatments with an interval of four to six weeks. The result builds over one to three months as the new collagen matures.
Does it hurt?
Under numbing cream the treatment is comfortable for most patients. Light redness lasts one or two days afterwards.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the area and the scope of work, and it is quoted at the free consultation after the doctor has examined your skin.
